Sales statistics from popular online shops like MyFonts show that fonts based on handwriting are the most readily purchased. Small wonder, then, that there are great numbers of calligraphic typefaces presently available. Many type designers try to make their names on the advertising and packaging markets, but their fonts tend to be too polished, and thus bland. The Filipinki BA project is a fine example of a lively and expressive script full of irregularities and intriguing details (though the jury felt the diacritics could stand some improvement). The various letters cohere well into words and sentences, creating a unique and distinctive style that blends lettering and calligraphy.
