This is a project developed in cooperation with Prof. Zbigniew Religa Cardiac Surgery Development Foundation in Zabrze, who are the creators of the Polish artificial heart – Religa Heart, which is currently undergoing clinical trials. The author’s goal was to design a personal control panel which could be worn in a comfortable way, facilitating mobility and increasing the convenience of use as well as the general life quality for patients with implantable heart pumps. The crucial stage of the design process was the observation of trends; based on this, the designer selected the essential features of the tool, that is a small size, data transmission to mobile devices, and remote healthcare. Thanks to the combination of technology and user-oriented design, it was possible to develop a solution which has a positive impact on the patient’s wellbeing.
