The author of the project designed a collection of industrially compostable shoes. Her primary focus was on the sole design. The composite material containing bioplastic and hemp is suitable for wearing and it can be mass-produced. The hemp plants are produced in Central Europe: they are a great renewable material which serves as reinforcement and filling fibre and lowers the biopolymer production costs. The main goal of the project was to replace the currently used footwear materials, which have a negative impact on the environment, with biodegradable or industrially compostable materials. The shapes of the shoes are inspired by natural structures to match the natural material they are made of, from the sole to the upper.
