This unique contest has been organised in Kraków for 80 years. It refers to the world-famous tradition of building nativity scenes, dating back to the 19th century. The author of the project designed a consistent system of visual identification for the contest, building her ideas on the rules of the competition: symmetry, decorativeness, allusions to the architecture and culture of Kraków, Christmas colours and styles. The system was based on coloured paper and tape typography which was then digitalised. The author of the project was inspired by visits in the workshops of the crib scenes’ creators. The typography refers to Gothic script and transforms it in an effortless manner just like the historical architecture of Krakow is processed in the manger scenes. The letters form a grid, which is a part of all other components: the logotype, posters, prizes for winners, and other promotional materials.
