The book is a visual essay accompanied by inserts: a dust jacket which is also a map, a leaflet which is also a poster, a set of other posters, and stickers. The goal of the publication is to show that our neighbourhood is worthy of attention and full of hidden secrets. The author concentrates on the Old Town in Kraków, exploring the area to find the places which are not gentrified and have citygenic potential. Year by year, such places have been gradually disappearing from cityscapes, which is why the designer decided to document them in photos. In the essay, the author presents the issue of urban mini-activism as a form of expressing one’s feelings and opinions concerning the neighbourhood. He draws attention to the fact that everyone can speak up about the development of their neighbourhood, and suggests small-scale tools to effectuate change.
