This is a visual essay inspired by Zofia Rydet’s photos and Sergei Parajanov’s film The Colour of Pomegranates. The project is focused on the vision of human extinction related to the so-called Year 2038 Problem: in 2038, the 32-bit time system is going to fail. The publication is divided into sides A and B, like a vinyl record. Side A is black-and-white, just like Zofia Rydet’s photos. Closer to the inside of the book, more colour photos appear, alluding to The Colour of Pomegranates. Both sides feature biographical entries about the authors, their quotes about their own art, and examples of selected works. Each side is preceded by a short introduction explaining terms such as “epoch”, “Unix time”, and “year 2038 problem”. The texts used in the book are fragments of song lyrics.
