Disruption of the lymphatic circulation is a common complaint women suffer after a mastectomy. IMMU lets you perform your own massage to help the patient’s body, a task that generally requires a physiotherapist. A sleeve equipped with internal cells compresses the air, which flows in waves along the arm toward the heart, massaging it and increasing the lymphatic circulation. The simple construction and inexpensive technology are added pluses of the design. We also appreciated the form of the product, which makes it appear more like an article of clothing than a piece of equipment. It recalls a long sleeve made of fabric, which stigmatizes the patient far less than it otherwise might. If we take into account the current number of mastectomy operations, we see the social significance of the design cannot be overrated.
