The book which is the subject of this diploma project focuses on a phenomenon often occurring in forests near towns or villages. Monika Bolechová has collected the stories of people who carved their initials in the bark of beeches near Radňova na Vysočině. This custom shows the human need to leave their mark, and the almost forgotten direct link between man and nature. The aim of the work was to find the creators of the inscriptions and to interview them, to find out when and why they left their mark on the tree bark. The jury appreciated the original idea and the insightful analysis of the phenomenon.
