Everything Begins with a Question is a sex education handbook for girls aged 10 to 11. The designer started the work on her project by analysing the existing books, consulting the experts, and talking to potential readers in order to understand their needs. That experience was necessary to find the adequate language – both in the verbal and the visual sense – to speak about the female body, changes which occur in puberty, pregnancy, and other issues connected with sex. The text has the form of a dialogue between two women of different ages. The autonomous illustrations resemble a comic. The project is a good example of functional and elaborate visual communication. It is also an important contribution to the field of educative materials design.
