This graduate student’s multifunction desk is user‑friendly, simple, unpretentious, and warm – it is household furniture for the whole family. Even when you raise the side wings it does not cause total isolation or alienation from your surroundings, it merely gives a signal: I am working, enjoy yourselves without me. There are many pieces of furniture of this sort, but few designed for the home, which are not reminiscent of an office. This furniture is elegant in its simplicity and thoughtfulness, without overly relying on technology or refined craftsmanship. Some evenly cut boards sufficed to achieve an effect of solidity. This piece gives the impression of having been independently made by a designer without the requisite skills. We can only hope that, for mass production, the design of the desk will be perfectly worked out, down to the finest details.
