Wcielenia [Incarnations] is an analysis of the metaphorical motif of shadow in the cultures of the East and the West. The publication is a form of experiment, whose crucial elements are light, shadow, human body, book components, motions, and screen-like surfaces. The author attempted to visualise ambiguous concepts derived from literature, philosophy, and psychology, endowing them with additional interpretations from the perspective of the history, impact, and development of the theatre. These notions include: reality, aura, presence, soul, self, and value. The publication is like live stage design, like a performance experienced in the present moment, with all the possible consequences, trials, and errors. The spatial elements supplemented with the metaphysical message are meant to inspire the reader to further experiments with the world of shadows.
