The project answers the problem of the lack of modification and unification when it comes to safety signs in public space. In the Czech Republic – the author’s country of origin – all safety signs must follow legal and technical regulations, but modifying the symbols is not restricted by any rules. This frequently causes information chaos. In her work, the author decided to standardise safety signs using a grid. Some pictograms were only slightly redesigned; in other cases, the whole shape changed. The book contains 70 basic pictograms, before and after redesigning. According to the author, the standardisation of signs can improve everyone’s sense of direction in public space.
