The designer focuses on the cultural heritage of the Gothic script: although seemingly consigned to oblivion, it forms an important part of history. The author explores the subject in the theoretical and practical parts of his project. In the first part, he investigates the evolution of the Gothic letters: from their original forms in northern France, through the invention of the printing press, to contemporary reinterpretations. He also takes social context into account, considering how the existence of the Gothic typeface has influenced the visual culture and social transformations. In the practical section, the designer presents his modern interpretation of the Gothic script, creating two typeface designs: display and textual. Although they differ in details, they have some aesthetic traits in common to coexist harmoniously in a single document. They can also be implemented in visual projects, combining cultural heritage with modern design.
