This design is a toy for preschool children, using the principle of the music box or the hurdy‑gurdy. Pressing or releasing the buttons set all over the electric drum, kids decide which instruments should play at what moment, thus encountering the basics of composition. They can also control the tempo at which the music is being played. The set of instruments you can install is potentially open‑ended (the designer has even foreseen the possibility of brass instruments – using bellows). The design was preceded by studies in children’s psychophysical development. Consultations were made with specialists to indicate the suitability of the equipment for music therapy. The theoretical premises will be verified on the prototype, which will surely also test children’s creativity – and the patience and stamina of their caretakers.
