The project consists of two different typeface designs and a series of posters which present typographic experiments. In the theoretical part, the author explores the subject of aesthetics in urban visual space, pointing to its connection with the environment and human needs as well as the issues of vernacularisation and globalisation. The first typeface combines the common features of the city of Genoa in Italy and the designer’s hometown in Poland: Szczecin. The griffins that symbolise the two port towns serve as the main motif here. The other typeface is a result of the author’s fascination with the typography of the late 19th-century and early 20th-century newspapers: the goal was a full revival of the old lettering. In the project, typography gives rise to aesthetic, psychological, and social reflection.
