Concrete is surely the most important building material at present. Despite its omnipresence, it is not warmly received, for aesthetic reasons in particular. Perceived as too uniform, it seems more of an industrial material, lacking the characteristic attributes needed for human eyes. Mónika Kovács’ experiments show, however, that it can inspire. Textilbeton is hand‑woven fibers. The designer captured by the beauty of structures/patterns and textures created on the surface of concrete, achieved through various methods. The result is a new, versatile material for building interiors. Used in interior design or as an installation, it can be easily modified, providing new capabilities for designers and end‑users both.
