Tourists’ broadening interests and growing expectations have made new challenges for guidebook creators. This book designed by Ágnes Bogár leaves the classical solutions far behind. The designer creates art routes for exploring Budapest’s architectural heritage. She focuses on eight monuments, most built at the turn of the 19th/20th centuries. What the buildings have in common is rich decor. The guidebook contains reproductions of details of the buildings’ facades that we often overlook in a hasty tour, presented as a pattern or decorative element on the page. The jury admired the visual aspect and the rendering of the ornaments, as well as the very idea of a new kind of guidebook.
