Hospitalisation and medical procedures are often a source of stress and trauma for children. The designer analysed existing practices and products: her research showed that children were not properly supported in terms of radiography positioning. To address this issue, she designed a set of products that holistically support the process of paediatric patient positioning immobilisation. The system consists of a holder for upper and lower limbs, all-purpose positioning modules, foam aids, and two versions of a toy: with an analogue animation and a liquid. The toy can engage the child’s attention and release the patient’s stress during an X-ray test. The materials selected for the project are radiolucent, which helps in obtaining a clear image of the patient’s body. The set facilitates the radiology technologists’ work and lets children gain new experiences while securing their sense of safety and being respected.
