The project explores “the right to be forgotten” under the GDPR, focusing on individuals’ ability to remove personal data in the era of AI and datafication. Despite legal protections, user-friendly tools for data deletion are limited, leaving individuals vulnerable to data misuse. Inspired by speculative design biomimicry, the project draws parallels between the defensive strategies of the tropical boxfish and privacy protection techniques. The interactive device allows users to control their data by scaring off data predators (security posture), camouflaging (data obfuscation), and emitting toxins (data deletion). The designer imagines a future where users can maintain data control through mixed-media artefacts, including digital visualization of data flows.
